LG Manager : AUTUMN 2014
Contents
From John Ravlic, CEO, LGMA National. National Congress – Melbourne we are only Days out from our national congress, which is being staged in Melbourne at Pullman Hotel, Albert Park. The last time the Congress was held in Melbourne was in 2004 and our driving themes were community, organisation and people, with presenters such as Kevin Sheedy (AFL coach), Christine Nixon (Police Chief Commissioner) and Jason Clarke (innovator). The 2014 Congress theme will explore productivity in the local government context across the key sub themes of infrastructure; workforce; innovation; technology; and place making. The Melbourne Congress program is full of productivity experts and local government practitioners providing examples of how their councils are addressing the productivity challenge. Outgoing AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou will present on how he has managed to achieve great personal productivity and effectiveness. Former Federal Minister for Local Government the Hon Simon Crean will join our q&A Panel along with UK’s Mark Hynes, victorian MP David Morris, Cr Jack Ogilvie (Hume City Council) and Allan Tranter (Creating Communities). If you can’t join us in Melbourne, you can follow the highlights and contribute via Twitter @LGMANational or search for the hashtag #lgmacongress. Welcome!
